Algebra 1
Algebra is often the first math course a student takes that they exclaim "I just don't get it". Algebra involves nothing new mathematically, just adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. It is essentially a method of logical steps to find an answer. It CAN be a fun course. It CAN be very useful in everyday life, not just for the math aspect, but for learning how to think through problems in a logical way.
Algebra 2
As with Algebra 1, I can help you get a better grasp of the concepts of Algebra 2, leading to understanding instead of confusion. We will start with simple problems that you can relate to and as you gain confidence in your abilities, move on to more and more complicated problems.
Calculus
Mastery of calculus opens the door to many fields such as physics, engineering, business and medicine. My engineering background gives me a deep understanding of calculus and how it is used to solve real world problems. Some calculus problems can be solved exactly and others require the use of a computer to estimate a solution. I have used both methods to answer calculus questions and can help you with either method.
Geometry
Geometry is often one of the first courses a high school student takes that involves the use of logic and proofs and can be intimidating at first. Geometry builds from the simple to more complex proofs to solve more and more difficult problems. If you are struggling to understand the basics or the more complex problems, I am confident that we can work together to boost your understanding and your grades!
Physics
Physics is at the core of science and engineering. If you need help with high school or college level physics, you've come to the right place. My 30+ years of experience solving physics problems will get you headed in the right direction.
Precalculus
I can help you master the skills to be successful in your Precalculus course. My engineering background gives me a deep understanding of all math subjects, but especially calculus and precalculus courses. If you intend to move on from precalculus to calculus, I can continue tutoring you as you move up the math food chain!
Trigonometry
I can help you master the skills to be successful in your Trigonometry course. My engineering background gives me a deep understanding of all math subjects, but especially calculus and precalculus courses such as trigonometry. If you intend to move on from trigonometry to precalculus or even calculus, I can continue tutoring you as you continue learning higher levels of math.
Linear Algebra
I have taken many hours of math coursework at the undergraduate and graduate level while studying engineering. Linear Algebra was one of the required courses for completing an undergraduate degree. After learning the theory behind linear algebra, I used the knowledge to solve engineering problems, using both manual and computational techniques, in several other courses such as dynamical systems, vibrations, systems control and computer graphics.
Logic
As an elective for my undergraduate engineering course requirements I chose a course in logic to enhance my computer programming skills. Boolean and modal logic are both used in creating software that functions properly. I have been programming in various computer languages on various computer systems since 1980.
Mechanical Engineering
I have a BS and MS in Aeronautical Engineering and an MS in Mechanical Engineering (PhD ABD). I have taught and tutored at the college level while working on my graduate degrees in both Aeronautical and Mechanical engineering. Courses taught include Statics, Thermodynamics, and Wind Tunnel Testing Methods. I have tutored Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics.
