Hello, students and parents!
I love learning, and I make it a priority to instill this enthusiasm for knowledge in my students. My diverse educational background is testament to my passion. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Speech & Hearing Science/Speech-Language Pathology, and I have also completed additional studies in music performance and vocal pedagogy in Colorado, Utah, and overseas in Berlin, Germany.
I am an Indiana state-certified substitute teacher for grades PreK-12. I can offer assistance with a variety of subjects including English- reading, writing, grammar, proofreading, phonics, and speech therapy; Math- elementary and basic math, prealgebra, and algebra; Science- elementary science and biology; Beginning German; and more. All ages from elementary school to adult are welcome!
Effective learning is a dynamic and interactive process. My approach depends on each individual's needs and learning style. However, in each case, using subject areas that may provide certain challenges to a student, I encourage each individual to think for themselves to build confidence, to overcome mental obstacles, and to learn crucial problem-solving skills. I have found that once a student is empowered with the proper skills, learning is no longer the daunting task it may have once been.
Location for tutoring is flexible, as I hope to make the process as convenient and comfortable for you as possible. I can come to your home, you can come to mine, or we can meet in a public place, such as a library or cafe. I live in Merrillville, IN, and I am happy to travel throughout the area within a roughly 15-mile radius. Meeting times are also flexible and can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. I do ask that each student respects a 24-hour cancellation policy. Makeup sessions can be arranged at that time, as well.
I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your academic goals!
