I have a little over five (5) years of experience as a Peer Writing Consultant (a fancy way of saying "Writing tutor") at Purdue University Calumet, and am a published author in the realm of teaching popular culture. Regarding my tutoring experience, I have assisted students, professors, and other members of the university community (alums, etc.) at every stage of the writing process both in-person and online. I have been trained to assist students from the very beginning of a call to write--from understanding the assignment to outlining--to coming up with a thesis statement, organization, editing for clarity and relevance, and finally editing for grammatical correctness. I also gave presentations on APA and MLA bibliographic formatting, as well as conducting research for sources that would strengthen their papers.
Further, I have a Master's Degree in Library and Information Sciences, which provides me with the ability to further assist students in conducting research. So not only can I help people with all types of writing and at every stage of the writing process, I can also help with locating relevant sources and how to cite those sources according to Chicago, MLA, and APA bibliographic formats! Finally, I also have much experience with creative writing, and have won numerous awards for writing--both academic and creative--from the Purdue University Calumet Stark-Tinkham Writing Contest.
As I said, I can do all of this either in-person or online (asynchronously); whichever works best for you. Any more information you'd like to know, feel free to ask!
