I enjoy teaching many subjects, but my favorites are developing reading skills, literature and history. I have tutored many students who have surpassed expectations and I have received survey recommendations from parents of students who can attest to the effectiveness of the tutoring.

I have a B.A. degree in History and a master's degree in counseling. My psychology background helps me to understand childhood development and whether my student is an auditory, visual or kinesthetic learner. Algebra 1

I have tutored seven students in the last two years in Algebra 1 through SES (Supplemental Educational Services) tutoring. I focus on concept, computational worksheets and story problems applications of algebra.

Algebra 2

I have tutored algebra for 7th and 8th graders for the last three years as part of Supplemental Education Services. I have also privately tutored algebra and algebra II.

Geometry

I have tutored geometry as both an SES tutor to Title 1 schools and as a private tutor. I have three and one half years total experience as a math tutor, including algebra and geometry.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have done SES (Supplemental Education Services, Title 1 government pay) tutoring for three years. I have worked with elementary students in the full range of subjects but focusing primarily on math and reading.

Chess

I played in numerous tournaments in the 1980's and early 90's and have played steadily over the years since. I can teach the openings, middle game tactics and end-game strategy.
