Greetings!

I am a teacher within the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation with over ten years experience. My specialty is Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies, but I am very capable in all subjects. I have been trained in Reading First, Opportunity Schools, Project Child, and Title 1.

I understand that not all children learn in the same way, and are located at different starting points on the educational spectrum. I will get to know your child, find interests, and determine educational needs. I will then create a plan of development to push them towards their goals. I will always include you, as well as them, in this process. It is important to establish a "team" mentality as this motivates all of us to stay focused.

I hope to hear from you and begin our journey together.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Indiana. I am obtaining my Master's degree from the University of Phoenix. My license is held in the state of Indiana.

Phonics

I have my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and am obtaining my Master's degree from the University of Phoenix. I have been certified in Reading First, Opportunity Schools, Project Child, Voyager, and teach within a Title 1 school. The Voyager program is a Reading Academy through the Indiana University online learning. It led us through the (5) reading principles of vocabulary comprehension, phonemic awareness, and phonics/word study. I received (6) college credits for taking this course of study. It was mandatory as my school is labeled a Reading First school and monitored by the state of Indiana.

Social Studies

I am a certified teacher in grades 1-6. I have taught social studies in all grade levels, especially the upper grades of 5-6th focusing on Native Americans, European Explorers, Birth of our country, Founding Fathers, American Revolution, and government. We the People program is part of my curriculum to teach how our government works. I have taken college classes in United States history and World History.
