Carol has brought confidence to my son in math, which he has been lacking for several years. She has been able to keep him focused and make math fun for him again.
Carol comes to the house very prepared and always has a plan of action. I like that she also gives a brief summary of what they worked on that day and her next plan and future goals. She is very patient and has a way of keeping him focused. He looks forward to their lessons and commented on how he is feeling more confident in math!!

Carol is helping me with decimals and how to turn them into fractions, and since fractions was my worst, I'm finally starting to like it and understand it, can't wait for our next session!I'm really looking forward to it.
Karey from Mishawaka, IN on 10/8/13
We have greatly appreciated Carol's help with my student this summer, and again this fall. Her confidence in reading and overall confidence has increased. The amount of time that I have had to spend helping with her homework has decreased.

Carol is a wonderful tutor. She is very patient and dedicated to finding out what my child’s strengths and weaknesses were in Geometry. Carol worked with my child to help prepare him for the EOC in Geometry. She had a lesson plan for each session on what needed to be accomplished and the best way to help my child understand the problems. She was very encouraging and helped my child have a positive and a can do attitude. She provided excellent examples and resources for him to follow. My child’s comfort level increased every session. My husband and I are very thankful for Carol and all the time and energy she put in to each session.
"Great French Tutor!"
Kent from Mount Vernon, AR on 3/30/13
I was looking for a private tutor for French and am so glad I found Carol. She is very patient, knowledgeable of the French language, and I love her one-on-one style. I wanted to avoid a large classroom, and wanted a more personal experience than Rosetta Stone, and this is exactly what I get with Carol's guidance. Carol answers all of my questions, and I am learning at a rapid rate without fear of scrutiny in a larger classroom setting. I just wish that I spent more time studying so that we could progress at an even faster pace. I am so glad that I found WyzAnt, and I'm so glad that Carol is my French tutor. I highly recommend her to anyone who is wanting a private instructor for the French language. Merci Beaucoup, Carol!
"Great tutor and easy to communicate with"
Basma from Little Rock, AR on 3/30/13
Carol is an excellent tutor. It is apparent she enjoys teaching. She is dedicated, patient and knowledgeable in most subject areas. She is well prepared for each lesson and writes lesson's reviews after each session. My son became comfortable with her very fast. I would definitely recommend Carol to anyone!

Carol explains lessons on a level that her student understands and is comfortable with asking questions in return. Our child's confidence and attitude toward math has increased. We look forward each week to continue our sessions.
Carol replied on 1/22/2013:
Young minds are so able to learn; together, we are building new pathways of understanding math in this youngster.
I observe her responses to my questions and suppositions; I encourage her to trust her math instincts; and I ask her to go a step farther--just a bit beyond her comfort limit, waiting for her to make the mental calculations. Then, we are rewarded, both of us, with seeing a barrier of misunderstanding is knocked down and a dike of confidence and empowerment is strengthened.
"Mrs. Carol is a wonderful tutor!"
Angelette from Jacksonville, AR on 1/11/13
Carol tutored me on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)V, this is a nursing entrance exam. It is basic skill (reading, math, science, and English language usage) to college level course material. Before the tutoring I didn't pass the exam. She helped me refresh my memory on information that I may have forgotten or never learned. It was a big help on showing me how to study (breaking out of my element on how I use to do things was the hard part). Finally, after all the hard work that I put in I passed my exam,I was, "SO EXCITED!" In all she was one great tutor. I highly recommend her as a tutor.
Carol replied on 1/13/2013:
Setting out a plan of study and encouraging on-going productive study skills are integral to how I help my students approach an up-coming national qualification exam. We talk time management, content area mastery, and how to best utilize their financial resources as they prepare for the test.
Angelette worked very hard and long with me to improve her scores on the TEAS so she is eligible for a specialized nursing program. I asked a lot from her by way of study time allocation and topic coverage. As we met I saw the progress she made in three critical areas: Biology, General Math, and English Language. She increased her scores in all of these and excelled by a whopping 20% in her language content area.
I freely share several test preparation resources with my tutoring students to save them funds and to allow them to quickly focus their energy and time on improving their test taking skills while they review/learn the required content knowledge.
What a blessed pleasure it has been to meet and work with Angelette! She will succeed and go on to bless many others with her gentle care.
"Great tutor! "
Ashley from Jacksonville, AR on 12/31/12
Mrs. Carol helped me with the challenging ACT test. We focused mainly on the English part. We went over basic grammar rules and worked many practice tests together. We talked out the ones I missed and she made sure I understood why the answer was correct. She was such a great help! She was so patient and answered every question I had. She helped me bring up my ACT score in English 4 points! I now have a composite score that I can apply to a college admission school! I would highly recommend Mrs. Carol as a tutor!
Carol replied on 1/2/2013:
Helping a young person to further their vocational goals is extremely rewarding to me as a tutor for all ages! Ashley now has new a doorway to walk through because of the hard work she put in to prepare her for a recent ACT test.
It has been my pleasure to sit down with Ashley to develop a study plan for the improved ACT score she needed for a higher education program she had set her sites on. I then worked with her in my areas of specialty: reading, writing, and grammatical understanding. I also gave her study tools and discussion time to prepare her for the math portion of the exam.
But, ultimately, because Ashley devoted herself to regularly study between our sessions she has reaped this reward on her way to a brighter future.
Patti from Cabot, AR on 11/2/12
This was only my daughters second session and first one at our home and the first time ever I heard my daughter say math is fun. My daughter has always cringed at just the word math but she didn't want the session to end. Carol is so patient with her for she is ADHD but Carol was able to keep her attention the whole time. I am so pleased with the progress I am seeing in my daughter's attitude toward math. I also sat in the next room and listened to everything Carol was doing and really learned some good techniques to use. I am looking forward to future sessions and so is my daughter.
Carol replied on 11/2/2012:
The time I spent with Patti's daughter did fly past fast. We are exploring numbers together; shoring up her speed and fluency with simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and in the near future, division, will provide the stepping stones to all aspects of higher level math.
This youngster is another great student I have been blessed to have met; we're both learning. Learning together is always best, too!
"Great tutor, excellent personality and interaction with student"
Leanne from Jacksonville, AR on 10/20/12
Carol W is a wonderful tutor. This is the first time that my granddaughter has had private tutoring and she is enjoying working with Carol so much. My granddaughter actually looks forward to her time with Carol. Carol is able to capture my granddaughter's attention and focus so that they can maximize their time in their tutoring sessions. Focus has been a problem with my granddaughter so this has been a very positive step in her learning process. Carol brings learning manipulatives and worksheets to the sessions so she is always prepared for the lessons of the day. Carol is also in touch with my granddaughter's teacher to see how she is progressing and to see what they are currently studying in Math for that week. My granddaughter has trouble with remembering new lessons and recalling how to do math problems that she has already learned; so Carol always reviews the problems covered in previous sessions. Carol encourages her to do her work independently before she intervenes so that if she is doing her work correctly, Carol can congratulate her and help build her confidence in her ability to work her math problems correctly on her own. Carol never takes a punitive approach with her when she makes mistakes. She explains the problems with her and asks her to rework the problems that she has missed. We have increased my granddaughter's tutoring sessions to two 45 minute lessons twice a week rather than one lesson per week for an hour. This approach was initiated in order to keep my granddaughter engaged with private instruction during the school week. We think that is a wonderful idea and just what she needs. Our whole family has befriended Carol and appreciates her so much. We understand that catching my granddaughter up with her deficiencies in Math may take a long time and we would like to continue with Carol as long as it takes for her to not only catch up on her deficiencies but to learn how to learn new math problems. Carol is very good at breaking down math problems in order to discover the solution required to solve the problem. The only problem that I have had is that I have accidentally neglected to give Carol five stars for each tutoring session she has had with my granddaughter. I guess you could say this is a User Error because Carol certainly deserves an Excellent rating for all of her work with my granddaughter. Thank you, Wyzant, for having such excellent resources for students like our granddaughter.
Carol replied on 11/3/2012:
Leanne's granddaughter and I have a fun time with math. Keeping it silly and relaxed makes a hard topic easier to bear and allows her bright mind to ruminate on the subject. Building her self-confidence in her math skills is ulterior to my work with her each lesson. We talk about her math hangups--and mine, as a way to explore our learning styles and to open our minds to more possibilities.
I am seeing nice progress and I look forward to the great accomplishments in store for her by the end of this school year!
Way to go!
"Is a very helpful Tutor"

Mrs. Carol is a good tutor, she is very patient and is willing to find out what fits your learning needs!! She has good idea on how to help you learn and she even learns new tricks along the way. Shes very polite and sweet. I would defiantly refer her to others who need help!
Carol replied on 7/9/2012:

"I'm learning French!!"
Brenda from Little Rock, AR on 6/28/12
Carol is very patient and willing to teach me the fundamentals of French. I thought I would memorize words and only learn phrases. However, Carol is teaching me the very basics so I can adequately learn French. We have learned how to conjugate verbs, proper pronunciation, the alphabet, telephone numbers, addresses and cities in France. During our sessions, Carol insists on speaking in French and, at some point, our entire sessions will be in French. Truthfully, this can be frustrating because I fear that I’m not catching on as quickly as I would like to speak or understand French. Carol is quick to reassure me that I am learning at a progressive manner. I appreciate her honesty and her knowledge of the French language.
Carol replied on 7/1/2012:
J'adore mes lecons avec Brenda! I'm loving the lessons I have with Brenda. Such a fun use of time. She's brave and determined to speak French when she's traveling abroad. Brava!
Way to go, Gal!
