Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Many students have difficulty with Algebra.

Algebra need not be troublesome. There are a very small number of fundamental things that must be well understood. Once those are mastered Algebra is preposterously, ridiculously easy!

Let me make it easy for you!

I have helped hundreds of students to succeed with Algebra. I have a unique methodology for Algebra that makes it easy, fun and interesting and has proven highly successful. We can very quickly make Algebra your best and easiest subject (the one you never worry about), guaranteed.

College Counseling

I can help you through each step of the entire college admissions process. I have several decades of experience with local, regional and national college programs. I can simplify the process of exploring career directions, applications, college acceptance and financing solutions thus improving your chances of success. I can help you to select the best high school course load and extra-curricular activities, narrow your options for college choices appropriately, write good college essays, prepare for interviews and research scholarship opportunities. Moreover; once you are a college student I can help you to succeed or if you are already a college student and are struggling I can show you how to succeed.

Computer Science

Since succeeding in several college courses in Computer Science, programming and business data processing I have gained over 30 years of experience in Computer Science and have been successfully tutoring that subject during most of that time. My career included experience as a programmer, database administrator, PC Technician, network administrator, Manager of Information Systems and trainer. I have a unique methodology as a tutor of Computer Science that has proven successful. I have helped hundreds of students to succeed with Computer Science.

Praxis

I have helped many students to prepare for PRAXIS and PRAXIS II exams. My experience tutoring and teaching mathematics, English and the physical sciences at the college level qualify me to do so. My experience as a trainer and business manager further bolster my ability to help students to succeed with PRAXIS. I have a systematic and comprehensive methodology for PRAXIS tutoring that has proven highly successful.

Public Speaking

I recently completed COMM 101 Fundamentals Public Speaking at Ivy Tech Community College in East Chicago, IN with an A for a grade. I have several years of experience as a teacher which required effective public speaking for many hundreds of hours. As the manager of a business for several years, both marketing and employee management required effective public speaking. Several years of group tutoring and many years of group training have given me additional experience as a speaker. As the instructor of a personal computing class I gained additional experience as a public speaker.

Study Skills

My experience as a student, tutor, trainer and instructor, along with extensive research into the subject have
enabled me to master study skills. That mastery and experience has given me the capability to teach, or tutor,
active listening, reading comprehension, notetaking, stress management, time management, testing taking, and memorization techniques ( among many others ). I have found that my student's academic performance in general and in specific subjects is greatly improved by my teaching of study skills. Moreover I use those techniques extensively and successfully in my own learning and thus have come to understand the students experience and point of view. That understanding and experiences enables me to continually improve my study skills and my ability to teach them.

Tax Preparation

For three years I taught H & R BLOCK'S BASIC TAX COURSE. That is a 16 week ( 6 hours per week ) course in which newcomers, with no experience, learn everything necessary to prepare tax returns for H & R BLOCK, the nation’s finest tax preparation service. Many of my students went on to become accomplished tax preparers at H & R BLOCK and other places. I worked as a tax preparer for H & R BLOCK for 5 years during which I prepared thousands of client tax returns of great variety. In addition I taught H & R BLOCK'S Tax-Preparation-System, their unique software system for that purpose. I have interviewed thousands of clients and prepared their federal and state income tax returns. That experience, in addition to many years of teaching and tutoring experience, qualifies me to tutor Tax Preparation.

TEAS

I have been helping people prepare for the TEAS test for many years during which I have
succeeded with dozens of students. As lead tutor at Ivy Tech Community College for two years I worked extensively and successfully tutoring many aspiring nurses within their field of study. I have a strong educational background in each aspect of the TEAS examination including grades of A at the college level in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology and a wide variety of Mathematics. I also have considerable experience tutoring other similar nursing examinations including NCLEX and HESI. I'm confident that I can help anyone seeking to excel on the TEAS examination. Thanks for your consideration.
