In addition to my having founded, built and run various businesses since high school, I can offer the following: more than 36 years combined experience in law (having owned and operated my own law practice for 20+ years); in retail (having owned and operated a gift shop and photography gallery for many years); in real estate, real estate auction marketing and sales, as well as related matters including residential development and re-development, foreclosures and bankruptcy. Moreover, I have vast experience in sales of services, business development, general marketing, branding and promotion. I have experience raising marketing fees in advance of auction events and have many contacts in legal, real estate, business, building, development, contracting and charitable venues including charitable auctions. Most recently, I have also been involved with Meals on Wheels here in NW Indiana and had a short stint as Executive Director of the LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity. My creativity and ability to apply various disciplines to the tasks at hand would be beneficial in meeting your goals and objectives in any venue.

I am computer literate in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop-style software, ACT, internet and website design.

Reading is the key to all knowledge and my tutoring style is to be thorough, explain fully the concepts, demonstrate and allow the student to complete the task at his or her own pace. Show by example and be patient while they digest the information.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

Having played baseball in my youth in Farm League (age 8-11), Little League (age 9-12) and Pony League (age 13-15), I am familiar with league rules and fundamentals. In addition, in my early 20's I coached a Farm League team and thereafter was named the supervisor of the league's T-ball League which constituted 4 teams and approximately 40-46 children, male and female, from the ages of 5-8 years. Then, many years later, I coached and managed my son's Little League team for 3 years and helped coach my grandson's team for another 2 years. I'm also a professional baseball fan and follow it quite closely.

Cooking

I baked and cooked with my parents as a kid and watched cooking shows as far back as when I was about 10 years old. Regularly helped in the kitchen at home during my teens and later cooked for my parents, friends and family. Have always been interested in food, restaurants and cooking. I have quite a few kitchen skills and have been complimented on my preparation and presentation of full meals from appetizer to soup to entree to desert. I have many recipes, knowledge of wines, techniques and can explain preparation and planning of meals. I have entered several cooking contests, including chili cook-offs and BBQs and have fared quite well. I have signed up for Master Chef on a couple of occasions but due to health and other business issues, was not able to attend the initial interview/audition. I may try again next year. People say I'm a good cook.

Law

Private Law Practice - retired - developed successful practice from "scratch". Handled multiple clients on multiple cases, including multiple trials, motions, bankruptcies (Chapters 7, 13 and 11), appeals, medical malpractice cases, et al. Made presentations to judges, juries, potential clients for more than 20 years to build practice and gain clients. Know how to sell services and myself or company.

Softball

Besides playing 12" and 16" softball during my 20's, 30's and 40's (years of age), I have sponsored and managed 2 Ladies' 12" Softball teams (age 18 and up), and coached Girls' 12" softball team (age 8-12). I am familiar with the fundamentals of the game and teaching young players the basics, plays and strategies.

Writing

I have many years of experience in designing, creating, writing, formatting, producing and distributing marketing materials (including taking photographs) and business development articles and press releases for the auction sale of real estate. In addition, I practiced law for more than 20 years, representing thousands of clients, trying cases to the bench and juries, business organization, researching cases, writing motions and briefs, filing appeals, etc. All of the skills, i.e. to-wit: writing, advertising, marketing, branding, public relations, communications, management, administration, personal, professional connections, etc., that I have developed and utilized over my entire career[s] would be valuable to meeting your goals and crafting a proper, concise and dramatic personal letter of introduction, in whatever format is required.
