Shortly after completing her M.A. in International Education (May 2012) from George Washington University, Najia has enrolled in a doctorate program in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University - Bloomington. Her primary focus has been in educational media and instructional technologies, with a regional focus on South Asia and Far East Asian nations. Najia is interested in research as a means to enhance STEM education through the use of technology and evaluating data from ILSA to create sustainable educational media for developing regions. Currently, she is conducting research in instructional technologies, mainly how users interact with web enhancing platforms, and conducting an ongoing study in virtual worlds and online games, relating to culture, language and teaching-learning.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Arabic

Grew up reading and writing Arabic, Urdu, and Farsi. I completed 2 years of formal Arabic instruction at the undergraduate level, where I had to develop a mastery of conversation, grammar, reading & writing. I have used the following programs: Arabic w/o walls, Native proficiency in reading/writing & Basic proficiency in speaking.

Career Development

I am currently an instructor at Indiana University teaching pre-service teachers how to find jobs. I have also tutor several students in the art of interviewing and how to write resume and cover letters.

CBEST

As a Californian Americorp fellow all instructors were required to take the CBEST exams. I have completed all three tiers and can provide verification upon student request.

Hindi

I am a native Hindi (Indian) speaker. I grew up conversing in Hindi, and not only am I able to educate students on the language but I can also add cultural context.

SAS

I am a doctoral student at IU that currently tutors pre-service students how to use SAS as a statistical program. I cover everything from writing the code to creating entire databases. I have also complete two semesters of coursework related to SAS.

Swimming

I used to be a life guard (level 5).

Web Design

I have constructed websites for several projects. I am able to submit samples upon request
