I am currently a Preschool teacher, but have taught First and Second Grades as well. I attended Illinois State University, and have tutored students from Kindergarten through Third Grade in Reading, Language Arts and Math. I enjoy working with Early Childhood students and helping them learn the basic skills they need to build a strong foundation for success in school.

Phonics

I teach phonics in a fun way that my students can actively participate in every day. I enjoy developing games and activities around the phonics skills to make it exciting. Starting with assessing the students' knowledge of the alphabet and letter sounds and moving onto blending letters and, finally, words. I have used a variety of phonics support materials including Modern Curriculum Press, Scott Foresman Reading Street and Heggerty Phonics.
