As a teacher with more that twenty years of experience in the classroom, I am more than qualified to help young people reach their academic potential. To me, teaching is not just a profession, it is a vocation.
My teaching career includes a broad range of experiences that make me ideally suited as a tutor for students at almost any level. I began my career as a middle school social studies teacher, teaching seventh and eighth grade US History for almost ten years. I then made the transition to high school, teaching European History, World History, US History, Economics, and Latin American Studies. Having experience with such a broad range of students helped me understand the developmental needs of children at every stage of the secondary level. I not only have the expertise required to help older, more advanced students navigate their way through an advanced placement curriculum, I can also help middle school kids master basic skills required for future success.
Students need solid reading, researching, and analytical writing skills in order to succeed in today's classroom. Working all of my career in highly selective private schools, I have more than twenty years of experience helping young people master these and other skills sought after by America's top colleges and universities.
I also understand that students can only reach their potential in a safe atmosphere that fosters mutual respect. I work hard to nurture positive relationships with my students so that they feel valued, regardless of their academic skills. In the end, I don't see myself as a teacher of history, I see myself as a teacher of young people.
