As a student, I always had a keen interest in math and English particularly - for me, solving mathematical equations and grammar puzzles is therapeutic and fun! In high school, I excelled in these two areas, completing AP courses in Calculus and English and achieving high ACT and SAT test scores. I also served as a TA for an Algebra 2 / Trigonometry class, as teaching material that I enjoy comes fairly naturally. I graduated from college with a Bachelor's in Economics, and currently work for a real estate advertising company, implementing mathematical analysis and composition skills on a daily basis.
Regarding my tutoring style and practices, I enjoy sharing knowledge and communicate comfortably and patiently. I'm happy to try different approaches and accommodate different learning styles. It is important to me to understand what the student knows and what the student is trying to achieve, in order to really ensure that the student gets the most out of tutoring sessions.
I try to incorporate as many practice questions and test environments, in addition to teaching the concepts and theories, so that students can replicate their knowledge easily. This is particularly crucial for the ACT/SAT exams, where half of the battle is understanding the questions and being able to perform during the testing experience.
I am certified through WyzAnt to tutor students in elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and in the ACT and SAT exams.
