The biggest obstacle to learning is having a teacher who doesn't understand (or care about) how much you understand. Learning shouldn't be a boring or threatening experience; it should be fun and rewarding, for both the teacher and the student. After all, there's no greater reward than seeing the light of understanding go on in the student's eyes.
I've been a Senior Marketing executive in a major direct marketing company and an independent marketing consultant to some of the largest direct marketing firms, both nationally and internationally, for the past 30+ years. Early in my career I was an elementary school teacher, the most gratifying job I've ever had, where I developed a passion for teaching which has remained with me through the years. I've taught and lectured at the graduate school level as well, and throughout my career I've been called upon to present complex studies to a wide variety of audiences.
I'm experienced in a variety of quantitative disciplines, from Algebra through Statistics and Probability, in all Marketing disciplines, in general business subjects, and in grammar and creative writing. I've excelled at test-taking with particular emphasis on strategies involving logical deduction and option elimination.
My teaching approach is truly customized to your needs. I'm an excellent listener, very patient and non-threatening, and I'm quick to gauge your level of subject knowledge and, most importantly, understand where obstacles to your learning exist. I find that using practical, real-world examples and analogies often enables students to grasp a point that would never be understood by simply reading a textbook. Working together, we will find the approach that works best for you - and have fun in doing so.
