When I was a schoolboy, my classmates called me "our emergency helper" because of my ability to assist them and explain things clearly. I have been teaching or tutoring during most part of my career, first tutoring job involved third and sixth graders who needed help with mathematics. Then I tutored freshman students, later I became a graduate student and taught the section of physics laboratories for science majors for three years. During my postdoctoral appointment at Los Alamos, I tutored a student in physics for MCAT test. Twice I worked as an instructor at a summer camp at the Center for Talented Youth, Johns Hopkins University, teaching a group of middle-school students small physics-based courses, "Principles of Engineering Design" and "Nuclear Physics."

When teaching, I use student-oriented approach. It is my student, who determines the pace and the way of learning, I will use leading questions and encourage a student to ask his/her own questions to promote better understanding of the subject taught. I firmly believe that the best results are achieved when a person understands fundamental concepts and basic rules and is capable of applying them to problems. Such understanding helps a student to discover things himself, this ability empowers a student and builds his/her self-confidence. On the contrary, simple memorization of standard formulas and/or typical solutions is the way to binding yourself with the cords of dogmatism. I believe that I have skills and abilities to explain complex concepts in a simple and clear way and would like to help anyone, who is interested, achieve understanding and gain knowledge.

Algebra 1

I have known algebra since high school and I used to help my classmates with it all the time. Since then I learned math all the way to Calc 3 , complex variable functions, and other graduate school level classes.

####
Chemistry

I had minor in chemistry as undergraduate student. I took several courses in chemistry, including general chemistry, chemical kinetics, and a few others.

####
Geometry

I have more than 20 years of knowledge of geometry, all the way up to high level of geometry at undergraduate courses level. I also had minor in Chemistry and took several classes in General, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Chemical Thermodynamics.

####
Physics

Ph.D. in physics with the GPA 4.0. Worked as a teaching assistant for 2 and a half years, taught at summer camps. I have been tutoring a student in physics for the past three months.

####
Russian

I am a native speaker. I believe this is enough. In addition, I always had straight A's for Russian language and literature at school.

####
Linear Algebra

I took a course in linear algebra during my undergraduate studies. I have also used linear algebra in physics courses extensively. Additionally, I have experience teaching physics with the application of linear algebra to students.
