As a student in the education program at SXU, I have had many opportunities to implement my acquired skills, and learn even more from hands on experience through onsite education, non-profit aiding with ESL/ELL classrooms, tutoring programs, and in class student teaching/aiding. From this experience, I have been able to remain sensitive to students’ unique capabilities, provide individualized support, and collaborate with the lead teacher/student counselor and/or parents to cultivate a supportive learning environment, where each student is able to learn and succeed.
Providing assistance to students by employing affective listening techniques allows me to assess their needs, goals, and struggles. After evaluation, I can adapt my methods to accommodate multiple intelligences and learning styles, ensuring that each student will comprehend and retain the information in the manner that suits him/her best. Furthermore, helping to promote engaging games and supervising hands-on activities that encourage participation and future socialization with peers are just a few of my skills in my work as a future educator and current tutor.
One of my strengths is attaining a comfortable and safe setting for my students where they feel at ease to discuss their own strengths and weaknesses. This allows students to get to know them selves and push themselves to do better and see constant improvement in their work.
I am currently working on completing my own certification in education and would greatly appreciate the chance, if given, to use the skills I have acquired and learned in the past five years in my pursuit to becoming a well-rounded and dedicated educator. I will implement the skills and knowledge I have learned to assure student growth and parent/student satisfaction.
