Education: MBA from University of Chicago (1986), majoring in finance and statistics; BSBA from UIC (1981), majoring in quantitative methods (primarily statistics). Started off as a math major at Washington University in St. Louis. Altogether, have about eight years' worth of college credits. More than 20 courses taken in statistics/econometrics. Includes many math, economics, accounting, finance and history courses.
Teaching Experience: Adjunct instructor in over 100 finance, statistics and algebra courses at various universities throughout the Chicagoland area. Have tutored many college and high school students in statistics, finance or algebra.
Business Career: Worked as an actuary for more than 30 years. Made frequent use of statistical and financial concepts in monitoring company mortality and lapse experience and in pricing policies.
I have also been employed as an independent consultant in valuing various companies' inventories. I have occasionally been involved in the valuation of small companies.
Currently, I have no access to a car. I can only meet students at a public place in Wheaton, like the library or a coffee shop, or I can meet at your home if there is local public transportation to your area from Wheaton at the desired days and times.
