I am kind and patient. I try to stick with a concept until the student understands. I try different methods tailoring the needs of the student. I have 5+ years experience tutoring and homeschooling. I am studying to earn a degree in Math and Psychology. I have proficiency in Mathematics related subjects.

My proficiencies are in Elementary, Highschool, and College Math through Calculus specifically. I also have tutored English, Reading, and Writing subjects. I have tutored College level essay research and writing. I also have taken Education K-12 courses in order to enable myself to remain current with effective teaching methods, styles, and resources. I am WyzAnt certified to tutor Algebra, Elementary Math, Reading, Writing, etc...

My ultimate goals for all of my students are understanding of the concept first and then mastery. The student feels a sense of fulfillment when understanding is achieved. Mastery of a concept is even more gratifying. This boosts the student's self confidence and encourages she/he to continue learning.

Algebra 1

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is covered in the courses Computer Concept and Application and Computers and Application Software. I took both courses and received exceptional grades. I work in the Excel environment almost daily. The tasks I perform in Excel are constructing time sheets, mathematical analysis functions, student grade and data tracking, etc...

General Computer

I have taken two computer programming courses Pascal and PL1. In addition I have taken two courses with most of the instruction being in software. I do a number of computer tasks daily involving administration, hardware, software, networking, internet, etc...

Microsoft Word

Computer Concept and Application and Computers and Application Software are two college level courses I have taken that include Microsoft. I did well in both. I also compose many different types of Word documents daily. Sometimes I merge with another Microsoft Office program. Other times I am constructing a simple document. My expertise in composing Word documents also includes research papers, outlines, templates, etc...

Prealgebra

I am majoring in Mathematics. My interest is Education. It is gratifying to watch my students grow from my instruction. I strive for and dedicate myself to this achievement.

Reading

My experience in teaching reading comprehension is mostly from being a home school educator and tutor. In addition to this experience, I have trained as a K – 12 educator for all core subjects. I am currently a Teacher’s Aide for grades K – 6. To aid in reading comprehension I use reading level appropriate materials. With these materials I aid the student in identifying different components to help them understand what the author is writing about.

Writing

I have tutored English, Reading, and Writing subjects. I have tutored College level essay research and writing. I also have taken Education K-12 courses in order to enable myself to remain current with effective teaching methods, styles, and resources.

English

The university I attend is writing intensive for all subjects. I use all of the components for English very often. Because I am always brainstorming ideas, organizing them and, writing essays based on the ideas and research findings it is second nature. Because of my familiarity with the English subject teaching from both a teacher’s point of view with the ability to aid understanding from a student’s point of view gives me an edge.

Spelling

My training includes teaching all core subjects for grades K – 12. Spelling is an important component of English. My experience in teaching spelling as a home school educator and tutor is by practicing reading level appropriate spelling words daily, then quizzing and testing the students on the words once a week.

Elementary Math

I have been tutoring and homeschooling Elementary Mathematics for more than five years. I am very familiar with and usually have one – one Mathematics tutoring sessions devoting all of my attention to the student. I am a Teacher’s Aide for grades K – 6. My students are very receptive to my teaching strategy. As an Education major, my concentration was K-12. My coursework as an Education major has prepared me to teach elementary classes effectively.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 5+ years' experience tutoring and homeschooling. I am accustomed to one–on-one tutoring or working in a small group. I am a Teacher’s Aide for grades K – 6. The Teacher’s Aide’s main duty is to have a small group of no more than six students who require further explanation of the lesson. As an Education major, my concentration was K-12. My coursework as an Education major has prepared me to teach elementary classes effectively.

Phonics

My concentration as an Education major was K – 12 in all core subjects. I have been tutoring and homeschooling phonics and reading subjects for more than five years. I am a Teacher’s Aide for grades K – 6. My phonics tutoring sessions include one–to-one practice with materials covering phonemic awareness, alphabet sounds, short and long vowels, blends, consonants, etc...

Microsoft Outlook

I took Computer Concepts and Application and received a “B”. This course covers software and programming. I have also taken Computers and Application Software and received an “A”. This course covers Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint. I work in the Microsoft Outlook environment daily. Calendar entries, contacts and email management are daily activities for me along with syncing to and from different destinations.

Microsoft Windows

I am very familiar with the Microsoft Windows operating system. I have worked in the Microsoft Windows environment since 1995. Currently, I am the administrator of our Microsoft Windows 7 run computer. I manage all applications, connected devices, and security.
