Adobe Photoshop

I have a state certification to teach art at the secondary level; this includes Adobe Photoshop. I have taken Digital Photography, Digital Darkroom, Advanced Photography, and two semesters of Independent Study which I used to further strengthen my photography skills. In each of these classes we worked with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom, both of which I have a strong understanding of editing in each program. I instructed two photography sections at Rich South High School during the Fall Semester of 2010, in which I taught at least two Photoshop lessons per week in addition to teaching two lab days of Photoshop a week. I am currently involved in freelancing and exhibiting personal work, therefore I am constantly using the Photoshop program.

Photography

I have over 7 years of experience with professional photography. I have taken the following classes: Photography I, Digital Photography, Photography II, Digital DarkRoom, Advanced Photography, and two semesters of Independent Study where I continued to develop my photography skills. My work has been featured in Saint Xavier University's literary magazine two years in a row, and it has also been featured in various photography shows around the Chicagoland area. I was awarded "Best Concept/Arrangement" in the Beverly Arts Center Digital Photography Exhibition and Contest for 2010, and I won 2nd Place in the same contest in 2013. I founded and wrote the curriculum for the Digital Photography program at Aurora Central Catholic High School in 2012; within my first year teaching the program, one of my students won a National Silver Medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for his photography. I am most familiar with Canon or Nikon models, but I am comfortable teaching the use of other cameras, as well.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
