I earned my AB Music and Language Arts degree in 1975 and have 35 years of experience both inside and outside the classroom. I have expertise in music for all ages, and in teaching general, instrumental and vocal music. I can also tutor in conducting. In addition, I have a passion for language arts in the primary grades when grammar and comprehension are so important. I enjoy one-on-one interaction but am very comfortable in a group setting as well. I believe that getting to know a student's learning style is key to success!
I have had 14 years of directing a brass group and for special occasions, have directed a 20-piece orchestra. Having been the music coordinator and worship leader of a large church, I have strong organizational skills and the ability to "connect" with people. I am both an accompanist and music clinician and/or judge for schools' fine arts programs and regional contests.
Proof-reading and grammar are strong skills of mine. I have often re-structured students' research papers for grammatical and style corrections.
Most importantly, I enjoy seeing the "light bulb come on" as students begin to grasp the task before them. Every student has the ability to learn with a little help and find satisfaction in doing so. Let's journey together!
