I have two passions in life: photography and making connections with people. These two processes intertwine in the most seductive way to create a utopian realm of harmony. In my opinion, art is one of the most powerful ways one can expand his or her mind, creativity, language, and identity. When composing life's most meaningful moments, I like to explore the unconventional ways of representing the conventional; extraordinary views of the ordinary. I like to take nothing and turn it into something; show the beauty in a world unknown. It is important that we all know it is okay to take risks; it is fine to explore beyond the norm; it is good to think outside the box.
I have over 7 years of experience with professional photography, and I currently teach Digital Photography at the high school level. My work has been featured in Saint Xavier University's literary magazine two years in a row, and it has also been featured in various photography shows around the Chicagoland area. I was awarded "Best Concept/Arrangement" in the Beverly Arts Center Digital Photography Exhibition and Contest for 2010, and was featured in the same show in 2012. Instructionally, some of my students have gone on to enter (and place) in various region competitions. I had a student win a National Scholastic Art award in my first year of teaching. I love meeting new people and spreading my knowledge in hope of a better understanding of photography. I have taught many different people from the ages of 8 to older adults, and I am confident that I will be able to help and inspire your photography skills to take flight from whatever level they currently stand.
