Looking to really excel in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Philosophy, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish, Biochemistry, Writing, or the ACT? Come to the alchemist who will help you understand the language each of these disciplines speaks. In many cases, students fail to achieve the grades they're looking for because the material being presented to them appears to be in a different language.
As a professional tutor, it is my goal to understand where the language barrier is in a topic and help you/your child overcome that barrier. My philosophy is to break down complex concepts into digestible chunks that allow the student to build confidence and excel towards their goals. I first began my journey helping others in college when I realized that I had a strong work ethic that allowed me to teach myself even if the material presented in class was inadequate. I often found myself mentoring colleagues through Chemistry classes, Philosophy classes, Spanish classes, and Biological sciences. Since I obtained degrees in both Spanish Languages and Literature and Chemistry with an Emphasis in Biochemistry, I have explored various complex topics and gave me insights to help students be successful. I also minored in Asian Studies.
After graduating from Loyola University, I began tutoring in ACT Math/Science at Huntington Learning Center in Elgin. I took pleasure in helping students understand concepts and succeed. My best students are those that desire to learn and I seek to cultivate that attitude of growth and learning through a zest and enthusiasm for learning. Eventually, I began teaching ACT Reading/English, began to teach math and reading to all ages, and eventually became a sought after subject tutor. Later, I would become Exam Prep Coordinator and Managing Director of the Learning Center.
However, my next venture was being involved in the martial arts where I learned goal-setting skills, the importance of building student's confidence, and how to motivate students. Although I took a step back from tutoring for several years, I began to take on several students in Calculus, Reading, and Geometry. I am now excited to use my skills to help people succeed to the next level of their life through assisting them through tutoring again!
