As a graduate with an English and Education degree, I have worked with an array of students from various countries and educational levels. I have taught beginners letters and sound combinations and advanced speakers writing development and grammar rules and recognition patterns. My Masters degree in Curriculum development and instruction is the foundation on which I create academic plans when teaching ELL classes for adults at Elgin Community College. I generate lessons based on students’ needs, enact effective strategies and modify them upon assessing how students perform. Furthermore, I have worked in High schools with students all ages performing one-on-one tutoring, group instruction, classroom pullout, direct instruction and English Language supplement to mainstream elective course. Being well versed in English literature has heightened my ability to help students discover a regard for literature and language as well as find their strengths of analysis and create bridges where they struggle to help them be competent readers and writers on their own.
