The English section of the ACT was my highest score when I took the exam in high school. I am also an English major in college and have scored 5s in both the Language and Composition AP English exams.
I have used InDesign for the production of my high school newspaper as well at a literary magazine. Both publications were award-winning publications in the NSPA. I am well versed in the various tools that one can use in it and have experience tutoring others to utilize it (I taught my reporters and other staff members).
I worked in high school newspapers and literary magazines for four years, which entailed a lot of Photoshop use. I have also taught others, such as my reporters and other staff members, how to utilize the program (even facilitated a summer day camp dedicated to the use of Photoshop and InDesign). Though my training for Photoshop has been more for journalistic purposes, I am familiar with the more creative and 'fun' uses of the program as well.
I was a 2010 Illinois State History Fair finalist for my project about the American Playground Movement as well as an honors US History student. I have taken many years of American history classes outside of that and have even taken related courses in college such as American Literature (with a heavy American history component).
As a Communication Sciences and Disorders major, I have taken many college courses that involve anatomy such as Speech Science, Neuroscience, Hearing Science, and much more. While I am familiar with most of the muscles, bones, and nerves in the body, my expertise would be anatomy that involves speech production, cognition (the brain), and vestibulocochlear functions.
I have taken two college courses on anthropology, one based on cultural anthropology and the other based on a more biological study, and helped my peers through the subject. I have also taken other related courses including sociology and psychology.
I am a Communication Sciences and Disorders major, so I have studied much about the various Autism spectrum/Autism-related syndromes. I also have a brother who has Aspergers, so I am very experienced in working with children and young adults who have it.
I took Catholic religion classes in a Catholic school for 14 years, on of which included a year of Theology. I am also well-versed in the views of the Bible not just from a Catholic standpoint or even a Christian one, but as well as from other religious denominations. I have helped to facilitate religious discussions among peers as well.
I was an AP European History student in high school and received a 5 on my AP Euro exam. I am an English major with a focus on British/Euro-centric literature and that involves analysis of pieces, including the context of the time period that it was written.
I am a Communication Sciences and Disorders major, so much of my coursework involves children with special needs, especially those with language, speech, or hearing disabilities. I am well versed with the natures of many disorders as well as the assessments and interventions for them. In addition to that, I have experience in my own family with children with special needs as my brother has an ASD.
