While the discipline of tutoring is anything but easy, my philosophy of tutoring is something rather simple: a good tutor is the one who stays organized and prepared and combines the knowledge of the subject with the passion for teaching it. My gift is that I can deliver the information and analysis to the student, where they can gain confidence and renewed interest in a subject that is hard to understand.
My academic background includes a master of science in medical laboratory sciences from the College of Health Sciences at Chicago at Rush University(RU), and two bachelors of science in chemistry and biology with pre-medical concentration from DePaul University and University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). I also have completed a full graduate internship in medical technology at the University of Chicago in Hyde Park (UC). In addition, I have proudly earned a National Honor Award in clinical laboratory sciences from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as well as a current certificate in medical laboratory sciences MLS (ASCP) cm. In regard to work experience, it includes tutoring math and chemistry at DePaul University as well as biology, anatomy and physiology at Oakton Community College (OCC). Furthermore, I have worked for several years as a research assistant in the biochemistry and immunology research laboratories at the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and as a research technologist in industrial research and development labs in the greater Chicago area. Furthermore, I have a combined total of about fourteen years of work experience in education as a teacher at SABIS High School, adjunct faculty in biology at Idaho State University (ISU), and academic professional specializing in evaluation of national exams in the fields of math, science, and language at NCS Pearson. Moreover, at the present time, while I continue to work as a tutor at WyzAnt Home Tutoring Company, I am successfully completing advanced courses toward another advanced graduate degree. These classes are offered through the departments of biology, chemistry and biochemistry at UIC Graduate College.
Consequently, this unique background of scholastic achievements, long and rich work experience in teaching, educating, and tutoring, and valuable work experience in research and applied science relevantly combine together to make me a rare species in the world of tutoring.
In terms of my fee, it is below the national tutoring hourly rate average, making it very cost-effective. As many subjects as I tutor, it is reasonable to expect rate variability at mutually-agreed requisites. As I mentioned, I tutor in multiple and diversified areas as follows:
SCIENCE starting with physical science subjects including chemistry 1 and chem 2, organic chemistry, geology, physics, physical geography, as well as biology and bio-medical sciences including cellular and organismic biology, population biology and ecology, anatomy, physiology, human anatomy and physiology 1 and 2, biophysics, biochemistry and molecular biology, microbiology and immunology, genetic analysis including Mendelian/classical genetics and molecular/modern genetics, physiological psychology, neuroscience, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and courses required for the medical and health science programs including physician and physician assistant/medical technologist and medical assistant, pharmacy/pharmacy technician, nutrition and dietitian, nursing and dentistry.
LANGUAGES including Greek and English speaking, listening, reading, writing and proofreading.
MATH including prealgebra, algebra 1 and algebra 2, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, stats and probability, and statistics. I also have the expertise in teaching both valuable principles and entrance exam techniques which helped prepare many students to do very well. Armed with this powerful preparation method, you will be ready to tackle your sneaky opponents, the National Standardized Admissions Tests Makers. Your victory would be scored by the refreshed concepts and newly-gained proven successful strategies. These tests include ACT and its four components: ACT Math, ACT Science, ACT Reading, and ACT English, SAT Test, General Management Test (GMAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE): GRE Math, GRE Verbal and GRE Writing, Prenursing Exam (TEAS), Nursing License Exam (NCLEX), Predentistry (DAT), Pharmacy Technician (PTCE), Prepharmacy (PCAT), and last but not least, the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
Most importantly, I work in earnest to make you enthusiastic to learn and naturally score high in your exams.
