I am a seasoned English Instructor and have been doing it for many years. As I know a few languages, I understand the difficulty with learning the English language considering its erratic grammar, pronunciation and other rules. Nonetheless it's a beautiful language and a universal one, a language that gets you by in any part of the world! Learning English from me will be pleasant and fruitful experience. For young adults and adults, I make it interesting by combining learning with your experiences, history, culture and humor. I have taught students with Hispanic, Polish, German and other backgrounds. You will learn English with relish and enthusiasm. I adhere to the fundamentals and make the process pleasant.
My first formal teaching was done for ESL/ESOL. It was really interesting to be with different age groups. The most surprising thing was that most ESL students had a fairly good grasp of grammar but had difficulty in speaking the English Language. I totally empathized with this because I do understand English with its erratic grammar can be very frustrating and confusing. I however did my best to explain through examples and role plays. I emphasized on speaking the language even if it was not perfect.
I grew up with English and my interest, education, and voracious reading has made it my forte. I genuinely like the language, love teaching and writing. It is perhaps the different nuances and the different origins that add to its mystery. More than all of this, ESL students come in all shapes and varieties and one does get a good picture of cultural diversity.
