Tutoring and teaching in the following areas: music history, music composition, theory, and arranging, band directing, jazz improvisation, vocal coaching, and piano performance (classical, jazz, and popular styles). Former university professor (received Excellence in Teaching Awards), performances at jazz festivals in the United States and Europe, owner of proprietary music school in Chicago area, great one-on-one teacher, currently have piano students ages 5 through adult (beginners through professionals). My teaching style is patient, personable, enthusiastic, well-organized; I give clear answers to questions (and listen carefully); experienced in helping students learn to perform to their highest level. Great with beginners as well as experienced and returning students, also experience teaching ADHD and learning disabled students.
I have Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in music performance and composition (doctorate with 3.955 GPA). Also experienced with audition preparation, recital preparation, college and music career counseling, college entrance-exam preparation, and music studio production.
