Hi, I am David.
I have a long background in engineering and teacher education in math with math teaching certificates at the secondary level in Illinois; 6th-12th, in Wisconsin; age:10-21, and in Georgia; 4th-12th. I am currently working as a substitute teacher in the districts of U-46, DuPage88, and D211 mainly in math class.
When I teach students, I use a teaching strategy of having students recall their prior knowledge and of interactive questioning. I also like to teach with real world problems with critical thinking methods.
I highly value good education, honesty, passion, responsibility, organization, and dedication.
I have several years of experience in teaching ACT math and it is my favorite subject to teach.
Algebra 1 is the basic math concept that is to be applied to any other subjects of math like Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I have plenty of experience to teach students algebra.
Algebra 2 is one of the most important math subjects in high school because most of the high schools consider it a requisite course. It is also a somewhat challenging course because it includes functions of logarithm, decay, growth, and conic sections like eclipse, parabola, and hyperbola. This is also a basic and essential course to take Precalculus.
I taught Geometry to high school students in my student-teacher assignment successfully for a whole semester.
I had many students who were greatly improved their performance in Geometry through my teaching.
I obtained a high school math teacher certificate. I have a Master of Science degree in civil engineering. Linear Algebra is the basic course of math and algebra for which every certified teacher should be qualified to teach.
I have tutored Precalculus for several years and also have experience in teaching the course in high schools.
Trigonometry is usually covered in Pre-calculus or it is taken as a separate course for a semester. The basic trigonometry functions like sine, cosine, and tangent are to be covered in Geometry, but inverse functions and analytic trigonometry are not easy sections for many students. For the students who are not comfortable with those challenging sections, I am sure to help them feel comfortable and be confident.
