I offer a one-on-one personal tutoring experience unmatched anywhere else. I strive to customize the educational experience for each student, to tailor each session to the student's individual needs. With years of experience teaching in a high school classroom, I have found that one-on-one sessions are the most effective way to deliver high-quality instruction. I've taught students from 3rd grade through 12th grade, from struggling students through honors students. This diverse background gives me the ability to meet the needs of any student that is willing to learn. I've also worked as an ACT tutor at a major Test-Prep program and within my professional institutions. I've never found these prescribed programs to be the most effective means of reaching students. I've always felt restricted by their specific demands, and as a private tutor, I can completely customize test prep to the individual student.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have been an ACT tutor for 4 years. All of my ACT students have scored at least a 25 overall. 2 students have perfect scores on the Reading portion of the test. I tutored in an official program for 2 years, and I've been trained by a Literacy Coach as well.

ACT Math

I tutored in an official program for 2 years, and I've been trained by a Literacy Coach as well. My methods in teaching ACT math are my own original work and often involve teaching students how to work around the math skills and solve problems within ACT time constraints.

ACT Reading

I have been an ACT tutor for 4 years. All of my ACT students have scored at least a 25 overall. 2 students have perfect scores on the Reading portion of the test. I tutored in an official program for 2 years, and I've been trained by a Literacy Coach as well.

Baseball

I played Little League for years, and I am willing and able to coach baseball and softball at an amateur, community level. I coached softball for a middle school team while I taught at the school, and we won the city championship.

Chess

I have coached chess for 5 years at the high school level. I was named the Illinois Chess Coaches Association Chess Coach of the Year.

Microsoft Windows

I have been working with Microsoft Windows since it was first released. I have grown up with Windows as my standard operating system, and I feel confident in training others how to use all of the essential functions. I've helped to teach my parents, sisters, and friends for years. I can teach a pure beginner up to an intermediate user who wants to be able to customize and maintain their computer without paying professionals for help all the time. I can teach the basics of using Windows to customizing startup programs, to purging viruses and other malware, to setting up a standard maintenance regime to keep your computer up to date and functioning effectively.

Public Speaking

I have taught high school speech classes for 7 years. As a teacher-coach, I've spoken publicly for 3 years. I can help struggling speakers hone their skills and gain confidence speaking in front of groups.

Softball

I played Little League for years, and I am willing and able to coach baseball and softball at an amateur, community level. I coached softball for a middle school team while I taught at the school, and we won the city championship. I coached 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys on the fundamentals. My coaching style is to push the fundamentals in isolation before combining them into strategic gameplay. I believe in including players on how to make wise coaching decisions and when to take risks. I also encourage a strong team-mentality.
