If there's a way that I can help someone to learn something I learned before, I'm more than happy to do it. Rest assured, I'm not just going to just tell you the answer. I'm going to guide you in a way that hopefully allows you the opportunity to figure it out for yourself so that you can do other problems or answer other questions yourself.
When it comes to Math, I tend to lean more towards the concept of the subject. I've found that understanding why you're doing something greatly helps in understanding how to do something. Once I see that you understand why you have to take certain steps, I test your ability to take those steps. And once I see that you can handle the basics of a subject, I challenge you a little more. I do my best to make sure that I don't give you more than what you can handle, but I want to make sure you can handle problems on your own so that when it comes time for you to take that test, or even show someone else how to do something, you know what you're doing.
My methods of tutoring are methods that I created to make sure that once I leave, you can master the subject at hand. I don't like it when I help a student and they can't do the problems once I leave, and that's why I do my best to make sure you do all the work; I just guide you when I see you struggle or do the wrong thing. Math is one of the subjects I always loved and excelled in without much effort, and I have helped many other people develop a liking to math that they never thought they could have.
I have over a year of experience as a tutor. I started out as a Calculus tutor, and then I moved to another department to tutor those who struggled in up to 12th grade level mathematics. Sometimes I even substituted for classes when the original instructor couldn't make it. That allowed me to build a rapport with the students so that they knew how I taught/tutored and could compare my style with their learning methods. I feel that everyone is unique and learns at different paces, so one teaching style may not suit everyone, so I try to stay versatile in my ways so that I can help more people.
I'm here to help whenever I can!
