If there's a way that I can help someone to learn something I learned before, I'm more than happy to do it. Rest assured, I'm not just going to just tell you the answer. I'm going to guide you in a way that hopefully allows you the opportunity to figure it out for yourself so that you can do other problems or answer other questions yourself.

When it comes to Math, I tend to lean more towards the concept of the subject. I've found that understanding why you're doing something greatly helps in understanding how to do something. Once I see that you understand why you have to take certain steps, I test your ability to take those steps. And once I see that you can handle the basics of a subject, I challenge you a little more. I do my best to make sure that I don't give you more than what you can handle, but I want to make sure you can handle problems on your own so that when it comes time for you to take that test, or even show someone else how to do something, you know what you're doing.

My methods of tutoring are methods that I created to make sure that once I leave, you can master the subject at hand. I don't like it when I help a student and they can't do the problems once I leave, and that's why I do my best to make sure you do all the work; I just guide you when I see you struggle or do the wrong thing. Math is one of the subjects I always loved and excelled in without much effort, and I have helped many other people develop a liking to math that they never thought they could have.

I have over a year of experience as a tutor. I started out as a Calculus tutor, and then I moved to another department to tutor those who struggled in up to 12th grade level mathematics. Sometimes I even substituted for classes when the original instructor couldn't make it. That allowed me to build a rapport with the students so that they knew how I taught/tutored and could compare my style with their learning methods. I feel that everyone is unique and learns at different paces, so one teaching style may not suit everyone, so I try to stay versatile in my ways so that I can help more people.

I'm here to help whenever I can!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra was one of my favorite subjects when I took it. Now that I've taken more advanced courses (Calculus and Differential Equations), I realize that Algebra is truly the foundation of all math. And when it comes to the more "advanced" courses, the thing that trips people up the most is not the Calculus work...it's the algebra. Once you've mastered algebra, the other courses become a lot easier.

If there's any way that I can help to understand the basics of algebra and how it is used in every day life, not just in the math course being taken, then I will gladly do what I can.

Algebra 2

Algebra was one of my favorite subjects when I took it. Now that I've taken more advanced courses (Calculus and Differential Equations), I realize that Algebra is truly the foundation of all math. And when it comes to the more "advanced" courses, the thing that trips people up the most is not the Calculus work...it's the algebra. Once you've mastered algebra, the other courses become a lot easier.

Algebra 2 is a class that delves into more advanced techniques that help you prepare for Pre-Calculus, which helps you prepare for Calculus. A lot of the fundamentals you learn in this course will more than likely appear again in Calculus, etc. Though it may appear to be a bit more challenging in some parts compared to Algebra 1, as long as you understood the basics of Algebra 1, you should do just as well in Algebra 2. And I can help with either subject, even if it means going back and strengthening your skills in Algebra 1 to help you. If it helps, I'll do it!

Japanese

Although I am currently taking Japanese courses while in college myself, I enjoy the language to the fullest, and I have no problem helping others who may need help in the subject. Because of my passion for the language, learning it is easy to me, and I feel that I know enough to be able to explain things to others.

I know all of the Hiragana and Katakana, and I am continuously learning some of the kanji. I can easily cover the basics of the language, including the formal present, present negative, past, past negative, and others. I can also cover informal speech and adjective conjugation in certain instances. I'm not yet fluent, but I can definitely help with the beginning stages.

Prealgebra

I am a math freak. I love love LOVE math, so I have no problem helping others to understand it. Pre-algebra is a preparation for Algebra, and since I've taken many other courses past algebra and trigonometry, I can explain the basics of algebra and help you to prepare for the courses that you can look forward to in the future.

I'm sure you've heard that Algebra is the foundation of all math. Well, it's true. Even in the Calculus courses I've taken, I did more algebra than anything else. So pre-algebra can definitely serve as an important course to take. If you need any help, I will be there in any way I can.
