I have been playing guitar for 13 years and teaching guitar for 7 years. Recently, I moved back to Chicago from the West Coast where I was attending college and teaching private and group guitar lessons at a music store. Currently I teach at a non-profit music organization and a park district in the west suburbs.
I have been a performing musician for the past ten years on electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, and more recently on classical guitar and on various finger-style guitar arrangements. Having played guitar for 13 years, I studied privately through high school as well as studying classical guitar and jazz guitar in college. I studied classical guitar with University of Oregon's John Jarvie and I studied electric guitar in my earlier years with Chicago virtuoso guitarist Kevin M. Buck. I have an Associate's Degree in Music, having learned music theory, ear training, basic keyboard skills, guitar performance, as well as electronic music production.
As a guitar instructor, I can help you with music reading, finger-style techniques, strumming techniques, soloing/improvisation, composition and performance techniques. I teach many different songs and instrumental pieces from the styles of contemporary, rock, blues, classical and Brazilian Jazz.
I produce my own music, studied electronic music production, and can teach the skills to help understand how use music software programs like Logic Pro and Garage Band.
