I am a Northwestern and UC Santa Barbara trained pianist/composer with 10+ years of experience teaching children, teens, college students, and adults. As a current faculty member at the music department of a Chicago area university, my experience teaching in the classroom as just as thorough as that of my private teaching. I am passionate about instilling joy through music in all of my students, and I believe that to be the #1 priority as a musician and music educator; my evaluation of and approach toward each student is completely unique.
As a pianist, I have performed in and around Chicago, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara. I have a B.M. (Bachelor of Music) in piano performance from Northwestern University (2007), where I graduated with honors, as well as an M.A. (Master of Arts) in Composition (2011) from UC Santa Barbara, where I was admitted as a Fricker Fellow in 2008. I am a Ph.D. candidate at UC Santa Barbara (ABD), and plan to finish by fall 2012. Having been the recipient of many performance and composition awards, I have great experience instilling a disciplined work ethic into my students; however, I do not believe that competition is an entirely necessary element in learning and appreciating music.
