I graduated from De Paul University with a teaching certificate and am a certified teacher in the state of Illinois. I majored in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics. I love helping students understand concepts and am empathetic towards their learning.
I'm currently in graduate school working on getting my Masters of Arts in Teaching - Secondary Math Education.
I believe every student can learn and succeed. I think tutors should explain things in simple ways and work until the student fully understands a concept before moving on.
I have acquired more than 900 hours of tutoring experience over the past 6 years. Throughout that time I have tutored algebra, geometry, trigonometry, ACT, PSAT, HSPT and SAT prep.
When tutoring for test prep, I use an individualized approach. I teach content as well as test taking strategies. I utilize practice tests to give the student a real feel of what the official test will be like, as well as for use as practice passages to gain confidence.
36 hour cancellation policy - Lessons usually must be made and set with a 36 hour notice, and they must be canceled or changed with 36 hours notice
Meeting location: River Forest Library
In order to provide my students with the best possible tutoring, and to most effectively utilize tutoring time, I prepare for the session in advance. Prep time varies for each student and subject, and may be entered on the website (with notification).
NOTICE OF RATE CHANGE FOR ALL LESSONS: Due to a very hectic schedule, 5 classes for graduate school, coaching lacrosse, tutoring, and a part time teaching job, rate for all lessons is $100 per hour. Effective January 13, 2012.
