Teaching is second nature for me, growing up in a family where both parents were high school teachers. My father taught Biology for 30 years, which helped fuel my passion and enthusiasm for the sciences and motivated my pathway to a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University. I love tutoring and look forward to promoting and sharing the fascination and wonder of the sciences with young minds everywhere, one student at a time.

Spending a decade as a Physician's Assistant honed my teaching skills, especially in one-on-one type settings. Patient education is an essential concern in the medical field. Because the people that walk into clinics have diverse science backgrounds, my position forced me to create and develop alternative methods of teaching the same science topics to ensure that every patient who walked in had a good understanding and explanation of their condition.

I am well versed in all biology topics, my knowledge derived from a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University and then adding twenty more hours of post-graduate coursework in Biology from ISU. My medical training from The University of Iowa College of Medicine enhanced my understanding of biology's concepts and provided real world applications for my science training. In my spare time, I've augmented my science background with numerous science courses from nearly all of the local colleges.

Physical Science

Physical science is usually a child’s first introduction into the world of science and it’s a pleasure to unlock that world for them. Physical Science forms a scientific background for children that they’ll apply in their future physics and chemistry courses. During my undergraduate years, I minored in Chemistry at Purdue University and excelled in two additional physics courses.

Ecology

Ecology is a passion of mine, even majoring in the subject for two years at Purdue University, which provided me with a wonderful understanding of the concepts and principles of Ecology, before deciding to expand my focus into General Biology at Purdue. I enrolled in more Ecology courses as part of my post-graduate studies in Biology from ISU with additional Ecology coursework from local area colleges in my spare time. Yes, I admit that I like to take Ecology classes in my spare time.

Zoology

I am well versed in Zoology, my knowledge derived from a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University and then adding post-graduate coursework in Biology from ISU. A Biology curriculum includes extensive instruction in Zoology as does Ecology, in which I majored for two years at Purdue before deciding to expand my focus into General Biology.

Of course, I applied the principles of pharmacology in my everyday work as an Illinois state-licensed Physician Assistant in otolaryngology and gastroenterology, accompanied by a DEA license for schedule III-V controlled substances.
