Hi my name is Elizabeth. I am currently a college student earning her BA in elementary education with middle school endorsements at the University of Saint Francis. I will graduate in May 2014.
I am very patient with students struggling. I am able to assess where the student is confused and explain things in a way that makes it clear to the student. I have different techniques for teaching students, since all students learn differently. I am very good with children and have experience tutoring kids 1st-11th. The most predominate areas I tutor are algebra, geometry, algebra 2 and ACT Prep.
Math is a hard subject for most students because they lack the fundamental concepts taught due to memorizing. Math is not something that should be memorized like a fact. Math needs to be understood from the base. Most students have a shaky foundation, which causes problems further on down the road.
The ACT can be overwhelming for students who are not confident in their test taking skills or content knowledge. I work with students to build their confidence and give strategies on how to take the ACT. The ACT is about answer questions correctly in a timely manner. I encourage students to do "homework" in between sessions to help prepare them for the ACT as well as show me their progress level. Making small changes and answering only a few more right in each section can impact their overall score.
