Hello!

My name is Becca and I am a mother of four children ranging from age 4 to 16. I am currently enrolled full time to complete my bachelor's degree in

Elementary Education and obtain my elementary education teaching license. During the completion of my associate's degree at Harper College, I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa (General Honor Society) and Mu Alpha Theta (

Math Honor Society). I completed my associate's with a 4.0 GPA and continue to maintain that through my bachelor's program. I was recently inducted into Phi Lambda Theta (Education Honor society).

I currently work in a local school disctrict as a one on one assistant for a child with

special needs. While I can tutor students of any age, Children K-5 and adults are my specialty. I have had many successes helping adults to score well on placement tests and pass the class that they have failed in the past. In addition, having four children of my own has shown me how different children require different types of instruction and explanation in order to succeed.

I love to help students have that "lightbulb" moment, especially when they think that there is no way that they will ever understand the material. I think that I get just as much out of tutoring students as the students get out of it. Through my education, I have always taken a leadership role in my classes, often tutoring my classmates on the side in my spare time.

I know that math is the subject that gives many students the most difficulty and I have had multiple successes helping students to understand the "un-understandable"

language of

mathematics. I LOVE the moment when a topic finally clicks for a student, it is truly an honor and a joy to be a part of that.

I teach and tutor with the individual in mind, changing my style of instruction as needed to get through to my students/clients as efficiently as possible. I am a huge fan of visual aids, especially when it comes to math. For instance,

fractions, a HUGE problem for so many, can be easily described by talking about and/or

drawing pizzas.

I can travel to your home or a neutral meeting place (such as a public library).

In scientific notation, 2,570,000,000,000 would be written as 2.57 x 1012
This is also correct for engineering notation since the power is divisible by 3. Don't forget that the number that starts the expression needs to be between 1 and 10 (2.57 here).
