With over 10 years experience in public school special education teaching and private instructional services, I have created and developed a proven phonics-whole language supplemental reading program. Students typically gained 1-3 years reading level advancement in 1-3 months.
A while back I took a leave of absence to raise my family. Today I'm thrilled to be returning! It's exciting to watch students' lives radically change through my revolutionary approach to teaching primary reading skills in an instructor, student, and parent partnership!

I want to teach at the elementary level because my expertise lies in establishing a solid learning foundation, guiding students towards becoming independent thinkers and workers. My teaching reflects remediation through Progress Monitoring and Direct Instruction. Through Scaffolded Instruction and Reciprocal Teaching and an emphasis on the Higher Order of Thinking Skills, my students learn to decipher meaning from given text and are inclined to think critically and creatively. Because of this, my students become lifelong learners!

It works because I have taken all of the bits and pieces associated with understanding and learning phonics and repackaged them into a simple and meaningful concept. Students acquire several strategies that help them to master difficult reading text. Their learning is optimized because instruction is direct and scaffolded, guiding them towards developing independent work habits and meeting accountability expectations.
My approach to teaching fundamental reading skills produces fluent and confident readers; therefore, reading comprehension is typically a natural by-product because what is read is comprehensible.
My primary goal as a tutor is to help my students develop and apply effective learning strategies, comprehensive reasoning skills and study habits so they can work up to their potential, be accountable and successful in their mainstream classrooms. My approach is clinical and therapeutic in nature. During the lesson and planning for the next session, based on my observations, I shape each and every lesson accordingly in order to achieve maximum results. If necessary, I focus on establishing and maintaining a proper working posture, as well.
