In May 2014, I will be graduating with a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Northeastern Illinois University. The many courses that I have completed at Northeastern have thoroughly prepared me to conduct activities that will allow students to achieve designated objectives for learning English. I also did some student teaching at Truman College in Chicago. During my time student teaching, I learned how to create a positive environment for students, which is so important in the language learning experience. I can work with students on any aspect of English, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. We can do an initial assessment and work from there to reach goals.
I am really excited to teach English. When I studied abroad at the University of Liverpool in Britain, I was able to interact with peers from around the world. I met and established relationships with fellow students who had made a commitment to learn English as a second language, thereby making our interaction possible. An opportunity to teach English would allow me to contribute to communication across cultures, which I appreciated so much during my time in Liverpool.
