With my coaching and development services, your students will reach their optimal level of achievement. They will be equipped with the confidence and capability to tackle difficult academic and personal challenges.

Although a graduate of the University of Michigan’s School of Engineering, my extracurricular college activities included working with students who have been academically ill-prepared. This fostered in me a passion and desire to help strengthen students’ math, science, and ACT achievement so they may determine their own future. I am most excited about math tutoring because if students can master the subject that most people find impossible they feel like they can conquer anything. Unfortunately because of discouragement from low performance and lack of understanding, many students do not complete the four years of math necessary to improve their chances of college success. I am also skilled and trained in reading and vocabulary development as well as essay writing.

Following is my partial instructional work and background: America Reads, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) ACT Prep Academy, 8th grade Girl’s Mentoring and Life Skills Program Provider, High School Job Training Skills Instructor, and University of Chicago Charter Schools Youth Development Specialist.

I am also available early morning hours before school to help students with busy afternoon and weekend schedules.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

AutoCAD

I have ten years of experience with AutoCAD programs. I started taking AutoCAD classes in high school and continued using the programs throughout college. I have several work experiences where I had to use AutoCAD on a daily basis.

Bible Studies

I am a minister at my local church and have actively studied the bible since 2000. I have taken a number of bible courses concerning theory, application, history, and meaning. I was a bible school teacher for two years and I am second in line to teach Sunday School if the superintendent is not present.

Differential Equations

I have experience using differential equations in eight of my college courses. Differential Equations is an integral part of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum and is used in about every class. Since I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering I have used it extensively. I have tutored sophomore students in the subject. I took the actual class at the University of Michigan in the mathematics department. I find Differential Equations to be simpler than Calculus 1- Calculus 3.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored several satisfied clients who are in this age group. As a part of America Reads program and NSBE, I have undergone extensive formal training for this age group. I have learned how to prepare lesson plans, how to keep attention of little ones.

How to raise math confident girls (or boys) Most people would be surprised to know that math was my worst subject in elementary and high school (B on my otherwise perfect A report card). English and Social Sciences came much easier for me. I still was able to study engineering at a very highly ranked engineering institution (Go Blue).
