My name is Jordi. I am from Spain. After my PhD, my wife and I moved to the US in 2001 for post-doctoral training at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. Actually, working as Research Assistant Professor in lung cancer research.
I was born in Spain, in Girona, very close to the French border and to Barcelona. My mother is from eastern France, and we spent a lot of family vacations in different parts of France. So, I am also fluent in French. And, in northeastern Spain, the region of Catalonia where I was born, people speak Catalan. So, I also speak Catalan. Therefore, I am trilingual in these Latin languages.
Although I am scientist by training, I love literature and writing. I usually read several books at a time - mainly fiction but also essays on current affairs and politics. I have also developed the habit of writing in a personal blog and I have an ongoing draft for a future novel.
Back in Spain, I completed a pedagogic training, and I am certified to teach high school. Over these years here, living in the States, I have realized that I would love to teach and share my knowledge of Spanish. I really enjoy talking to people and explaining the meanings of Spanish expressions and
helping them understand Spanish and the Spanish culture.
I can adapt and help you with basic or advanced conversational Spanish and also with grammar and writing depending on your needs.
