Certified Teacher with Masters for Grades K-8 and ESL

I enjoy working with elementary students, middle schoolers and English language learners of any age. I have a masters in education and am a certified teacher. I've been teaching elementary school for the past six years, but I taught all ages in Japan. (I speak Japanese and French.) My specialties are math, reading, ESL, and technology. So, expect to see me carrying my computer. I tailor my instruction to the student and try to make my lessons as engaging as possible. With children, I often create phonics or math games. I live in Oak Park, but I'm willing to travel to nearby towns. Hopefully, I'll see you or your child soon.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am qualified to tutor elementary subjects, K-6. In Illinois, I am certified to teach self contained general education, Kindergarten- Grade 9. I am certified to teach grades 1-6 in Massachusetts, where I've been an elementary teacher for the past five years.

Phonics

As an elementary and ESL teacher, I have been teaching phonics for 5+ years. I am trained in the Telian program, which focuses on phonemic awareness and phonics skills.

ESL/ESOL

I taught ESL in Japan for a year, and I hold TEFL certification from ICAL. I also taught a special class consisting largely of English language learners in Massachusetts. I look forward to helping you or your child learn English.

Microsoft Windows

I use Microsoft Windows on my own computer, so I have first hand knowledge of the subject. In Massachusetts, I taught technology classes in an elementary school. In the computer lab, we used Microsoft Windows as the operating system. So, I've previously designed technology lessons for that OS.
