Teaching is a two way street. Many teachers forget that to effectively communicate with a student, a relationship between instructor and pupil is required. A teacher of course needs to know the material that they are teaching, they need patience, understanding, compassion and more. However, they also need to know their students and understand what makes them excited. It is here, that the teacher can effectively teach, by knowing what will connect with their student.
Teaching seems easy, but what I have observed through the years, is that the teacher tends to teach each student the same, believing that all pupils learn the same and are connected to the material in the same manner. Nothing can be further from the truth. It is imperative to understand your students learning style and areas of interest. By combining the two, and incorporating it into the lesson planning, a teacher has a much higher success rate in teaching, in exchanging information and in having a student doing there all to learn.
Like a snowflake, each student-teacher relationship is unique and it is up to the teacher to identify this and teach accordingly.
It is my sincerest goal to teach in a fashion that takes unto account the individuality of each student that I have the honor of tutoring.
