I am a compassionate 26-year-old who successfully tutored throughout college. I bring warmth amd a sense of humor to topics that many students initially consider dry, boring, or frustrating. I am always trying to keep students engaged with applicable anecdotes and fun memory tricks to make learning more enjoyable.
I went to medical school for 2+ years before leaving (in good academic standing and having passed step 1 of my boards) to pursue other passions. Although I have decided medicine is not the correct path for me, I have a lot of wisdom and encouragement to offer for those who are interested in pursuing a DO or MD degree, as well as those studying math, biology and general chemistry in high school and college.
I am currently in a Master's programs at DePaul University, working toward certification to teach high school chemistry.
A few of my academic successes include graduating from high school with a 4.0 and earning Magna Cum Laude status in my undergraduate studies. I have also participated in a biochemistry research project that was published in an academic journal.
Aside from my training and experience, I believe that my biggest strengths are my ability to put students at ease and my active listening skills. Those are the assets I have found to be most valuable when working with those struggling with ADHD and other difficulties.
Asking for help when you are struggling in a subject can be scary, and I make it a priority to be understanding and encouraging with frustrated students. I once had a student tell me that she was really nervous to meet her tutor, but she was completely at ease with me within minutes. Hopefully that will be your experience!
I look forward to working with you!
