I am looking to help with term papers, test preparation from K-2 through the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
This response serves to establish my suitability to educate a diverse age, interest, and aptitude client base through adherence to core/course curriculum with adjunct assignments/activities aimed at personalizing the experience.
I began tutoring in grammar school as part of the advanced reading class volunteers group for students requiring a little more assistance making the grade. Tutelage ranged from spoken reading ability to literal and holistic comprehension.
In high school, I freelanced for students aiming to pass the General Educational Development (GED) Exam to gain a high school diploma. I also tutored a range of science students with the marketing distinction of holding the District Science Fair Chair with science projects highly competitive each year at both local and state science fairs.
For the last two years of high school, I volunteered to assist special needs students living ‘in-patient’ at Forest Hospital in Des Plaines. Aside from academia this also functioned as a 'peer worker' role, providing patients someone their own age to spend time with keeping up with school work or engaging in more conceptual therapeutic activities.
My first year of University, at Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio, I taught outdoor environmental education at Glen Helen Nature Reserve with its raptor rehabilitation center. This involved both academic and practical lessons.
I left Antioch to study Behavioral Neuroscience at Northern Illinois University (NIU) where I worked for two years with the Deacon Davis CHANCE Program, whose “guiding mission ... is to identify, recruit, admit, and assist otherwise capable students whose pre-college education has not fully enabled them to take maximum advantage of their potential and the opportunities of higher education at NIU”. I tutored with the often pressing aim of getting students passing so they could enroll again.
Since university I have taught English for TOFEL Students in Azerbaijan, tutored environmental science to a number of students in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and mentored ambitious university students during my professional time in environmental consulting.
