Hello, students and their parents!
I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, and have moved to Illinois over a year ago. That's why most of my credentials are from overseas, and evaluated here.
The subjects that I am the most skilled in and prefer to teach are languages (Russian, English, French), math and world history (mostly European). Most of my tutoring experienced are in languages: I was formally a teacher of English at a university in Russia, and was tutoring teenagers in English as well. I worked as a simultaneous interpreter of French and English for several years. I have always been a good student myself, and can support students well in how to do that better, on top of teaching a subject. Being Russian from St. Petersburg, I not only speak a good conversational language, I also know Russian grammar well and can explain it. I love history and know a lot about history of art, but have not been teaching it before. Mathematics was always a great way to entertain logics and abstract thinking - both at the school and university level. I feel confident teaching algebra and geometry.
My advanced university degrees from St. Petersburg, Russia, are in management (including economics and finance), and psychology. I am also a US-certified life coach, and have been told that I am great at finding common ground with adults and children alike. I am diligent, reliable, demanding and challenging, but also supportive, caring and affirming with those who I coach and teach. I do everything I can to keep my student engaged with the material, interested in learning more about the subject and become better at it than they were before.
I hold myself to a high standard. For that reason I always ask for feedback and strive to become better every time at what I do.
I look forward to hearing from you, and to supporting you in your studies, overcoming the challenges you might have and helping you enjoy classes and the fact that you are becoming stronger in your knowledge. Let's get started!
