Hi, Everyone,
I am a long-time senior engineering physicist at a national laboratory, with a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics from the State University of New York-Stony Brook (now called Stony Brook University). Over the years I have enjoyed interacting with students and other groups visiting our laboratory as well as participating in online physics forums with middle-school and high-school students. I've also been a middle-school science fair judge at local and regional levels for more than 15 years.
In fact, I've enjoyed these activities so much that I've recently decided to broaden my education outreach efforts and try my hand at tutoring, focusing mainly on physics and math. My goals are to improve each student's conceptual understanding of a subject along with his/her specific problem-solving skills. Because of my background and experience, I also believe that I can help make a connection between those seemingly mundane homework problems at the end of each chapter in a textbook and the "real world".
I would be pleased to work with individual students ranging from middle-school through college undergraduates as well as small groups of students. I look forward to meeting you and discussing your tutoring needs.
Bill F.
