Thank you for taking the time to read my profile!
In 2011, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a Bachelor of Science
degree in neuroscience, with highest departmental distinction. Aside from studying for classes, I engaged in several research projects in the fields of neurology, psychology
, and transplant surgery. In 2013, I performed research in microbiology
and motor dysfunctions at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. I am currently a second year medical student at Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, IL.
While at UIC, I also received a civic engagement leadership certificate for spearheading volunteer service projects in Chicago Public Schools and After School Matters programs in poverty-stricken neighborhoods of Chicago. For many of these projects, I served as a tutor and mentor for students. Through these projects and the roles I played, I discovered my passion for teaching. There is something very rewarding to me in watching students go through their thought process one step at a time and ultimately arrive at the correct answer. To me, the role of a tutor is to guide students to the proper steps. While doing so, the tutor should investigate where errors may be occurring and explain why it is an error. I have practiced this approach for over two years of tutoring at all levels- K-12 and college- and it has had remarkable results.
I understand that you have many tutoring options and want to find a tutor who is right for you or your student. If you have any questions about my approach or would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact me!
