My name is Deb and I want to take away the frustration and anxiety that your student is experiencing in school. I can make mathematics and science comprehensible and engaging for your student so that he or she can build strong basic concepts in these subjects. I am a state-certified teacher with state endorsements in Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies with a BS degree in chemistry and physical science.
During the summer, beginning June 1, I offer tutoring late mornings thru early afternoons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I prefer to meet at the Naperville 95th Street library, but I do make exceptions if needed.
Currently I teach Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and Physical Science for the Naperville Learning Vine Home-school Extension Coop. I have had extensive Algebra instruction and tutoring experience. I have worked as a Math Intervention Specialist volunteer for Prairie Elementary School in Naperville 203 and I have been a Literacy Instructor for the Ace-It After School Program in Bolingbrook. I also have a BS degree in chemistry and physical science and have worked at Whirlpool and Dow Chemical Company.
I really enjoy working with elementary students, helping them to build strong building blocks in their math numeracy and reading concepts. I have had training in literacy, phonics and reading fluency to help the struggling elementary reader. I enjoy tutoring math and science for the middle school and high school students; I especially work with pre-algebra, algebra and geometry, middle school science, and high school chemistry and physical science. I want to engage students into exploring their world through math, science, and reading and to turn them into lifelong learners.
