I have used tutors in the past for both my high school children and can state that Marianne's tutor sessions are by far the most effective. Both of my children have improved in both written as well as oral communication in the Spanish language. Test scores have improved markedly over the past several months but what is most exciting is that they both look forward to their sessions as well as recognize the value and benefits of Mariann's tutoring. Marianne not only is highly proficient in the Spanish Language, she possess the innate ability to communicate, motivate, and establish this understanding to my children. There are many people out there that have Spanish language skills, there are not many out there that are as effective at teaching as Marianne. Marianne receives 2 thumbs up and we will continue to use her and recommend her to others.

Marianne works real well with my daughter in teaching her in her problem areas in Spanish II. She worked with her prior to taking the lessons in narrowing down where her issue areas were and focused on those areas. Her grade in Spanish went from a low C to an A. In my daughters one hour session the first 30 minutes is going over her upcoming homework or quiz/tests and then they go over her weak areas which she found quite quickly. She gives my daughter the confidence to succeed.

Our 10th grader was having difficulty with her Spanish homework, testing and basic understanding. These issues followed her from 9th grade. Making the decision to choose Marianne was based on her profile, private tutoring experience, love of the Spanish language and her relationships with Spanish speaking individuals. Our daughter was being taught Spanish using textbook and immersion and was having issues with grammar foundation. During and after our first session with Marianne we could see a difference in our daughter's attitude and self esteem regarding her ability to work towards getting down the basics and having a plan to work towards her level of understanding. Marianne has been supportive and inventive even when we have been unable to obtain any helpful cooperation from her high school teacher. She continues to be flexible with our schedule and works with our daughter empowering her to make tutoring decisions which builds her self confidence and ownership of the tutoring process. A few months have passed and our daughter greets us in Spanish and most conversation is in Spanish to the point that my husband and I are thinking of taking a class so we can keep up! We could not be more grateful to Marianne for working with our daughter and keeping us informed on needs and progress. She has been instrumental in helping us make the necessary steps forward.

My son was struggling in Spanish 3 and just not enjoying the language at all. He started working with Marianne, who was extremely patient with him and taught him new ways to study/understand the language. In a 6-month time frame his grade went up an entire level and because he now really enjoys the language and understands it better he changed his senior year schedule to include Spanish 4-all on his own. Marianne was also very flexible with his schedule as he is a 2-sport varsity player and she was able to meet him after practices or on days off from school during his sports season. She was also able to provide additional tutoring prior to his finals week which helped tremendously. I would highly recommend Marianne N. to anyone who is seeking help with the Spanish language.

My son really likes Marianne, they had a good first session. She also explained to me from an educator's standpoint why a particular set of problems was causing my son trouble, explained how children learn those skills and what I could do at home to help him. Marianne is tutoring the three of us who are moms, with a goal and enthusiasm to learn Spanish. We aren't working towards a test for school or required to learn the language for work. Rather we have a fun focus to learn for interest. Marianne is the perfect combination by teaching with an effective multi-disciplinary approach w/flashcards, computer, handouts and verbal, as well as reviewing past lessons and introducing new, and lastly her personality is enjoyable. My son is 7 and he is not a traditional learner. Marianne finds creative ways to reach him. She plays math, reading and spelling games with him. He enjoys the game, and that helps him retain the information he learned from playing it. Marianne is always well prepared for the lesson. She takes the time to individualize the lesson for my child. It's different each week, so he doesn't lose interest. Her teaching goes beyond the hour she spends with him. She cares about my son and has given me ideas and resources to help me work with him at home. She's a great teacher.
