I was an elementary school teacher for 9 years. During that time, I was part of the staff at a school that was recognized as a National School of Excellence. I was also nominated for Teacher of the Year. I ended my teaching career to be a full time parent for for 12 years. Since then, I have gone back to teaching, as a substitute in Indian Prairie School District #204. I have been a substitute in good standing with the district for 9 years. I am on the preferred sub list for several schools, and due to my reputation, I was asked by the district to teach substitute teacher seminars.
I love kids, and my goal as a teacher is to contribute to maintaining a high self esteem in every child. I do this through creating a comfortable learning environment where questions are encouraged, and where praise is abundant. I use various creative teaching methods, not only to keep the student's interest level high, but to accomodate the different types of learning styles found in different children. I am a firm believer that if a student is having fun while learning, he will love school, and look forward to learning more. Each of my lessons include an element of fun, and leave students feeling good about themselves and what they have accomplished.
If your child is struggling in school, I can give him/her the one on one attention that can help him/her be more successful. A successful student is a happy student!
